A few years ago, that sense of objective reality when waking got a bonus surprise. I was dreaming about something and got a nasty surprise, which woke me. Relieved, as usual, to be awake, saying to myself "Phew it was only a dream. Lucky escape." I was then shocked and got a serious fright because the same thing happened again and it was a very large fright because this time I was awake so I knew it was real. The fright from that realization was so great that I really DID then wake up from the second component of the dream. Double phew~!!>

Mqurice -you bring up some very interesting topics and this is spot on.... >>>>>look what they do to you if you are non-compliant. Nailed to the cross, burned at the stake, taxed to death, imprisoned and otherwise forced to submit to their MADness. The whole point of nailing Jesus to a cross was a warning to others about what those in power will do to you. <<<<< and perfectly in line with the teachings of Christ. however, Jesus taught that if we try to preserve our life we will lose it. he went to the cross as an example of living life to the fullest and NOT fearing what men can/will do to us for our non-conformity. a life lived in fear is not a life worth living. want to comment on dreams but must go for now.

my wife and i just watched Martin Scorcese's latest movie HUGO and it contained a dream within a dream scene. it was indeed quite odd. i dont know that i have ever had one, and expect that if i did i would recall it. the wisdom literature of the longer canon which is part of the Orthodox and Roman Catholic bible contains some interesting passages about dreams. this, for example, from the Wisdom of Sirach (chapter 40): 40:1 Great travail is created for every man, and an heavy yoke is upon the sons of Adam, from the day that they go out of their mother’s womb, till the day that they return to the mother of all things. 40:2 Their imagination of things to come, and the day of death, trouble their thoughts, and cause fear of heart; 40:3 From him that sitteth on a throne of glory, unto him that is humbled in earth and ashes; 40:4 From him that weareth purple and a crown, unto him that is clothed with a linen frock. 40:5 Wrath, and envy, trouble, and unquietness, fear of death, and anger, and strife, and in the time of rest upon his bed his night sleep, do change his knowledge. 40:6 A little or nothing is his rest, and afterward he is in his sleep, as in a day of keeping watch, troubled in the vision of his heart, as if he were escaped out of a battle. 40:7 When all is safe, he awaketh, and marvelleth that the fear was nothing. 40:8 Such things happen unto all flesh, both man and beast....."
