Burning /torturing people for imaginary arbitrary sins , consorting with imaginary demons & devils , being jewish or barbarian infidel . Yet wait, who were the infidels again & who not that gets extremely confusing , suppose the main thing is that glorious Europe & cherished Greco/Roman (and christian) "western tradition" survived ? Did we mention imaginary devils & demons already ? If they were all made up .... The fires that burned under these hapless people were certainly real , the persecutions were definitely real , the only thing that apparently wasn't real were all the imginary friends & supernatural entities . So what conclusion does anyone draw from centuries of experience that all proved to be only ignorance & gross pretense on every level ? We take a razor to these ancient "scriptures" as Thomas Jefferson did & do some immediate precision emergency surgery but notice people were always picking & choosing anyways. Seems Evolution applies even to thought ...
