To: Maurice Winn who wrote (88878 ) 4/8/2012 6:28:33 PM From: Lazarus 3 Recommendations Read Replies (3) | Respond to of 217691 Mqurice- you have now touched upon the difference in what we believe about realty>>>> to anyone who thinks reality is an illusion, I say jump off a tall building to see how illusory it is, or better, run nose first into the side of it so that subsequently one is still around to contemplate the effects on one's consciousness<<<< in that i gather from that statement you believe consciousness ceases to exist once the chemistry in our head becomes inactive. what you refer to as consciousness i would refer to as one's soul. if you were to ask me what i believe the soul is i would say that it is the union of flesh and spirit.... or maybe to assist in further clarification: the union of our material bodies with our immaterial spirits. if i believed that this very brief span of time in which i exist on earth is all there is to LIFE then as the apostle Paul says, i would be" the most miserable of men.... why not then just eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we die (paraphrased). mind you, i'm not trying to persuade you to believe as i do, but rather help you to understand what many Christians believe. i wouldn't want you or anyone to believe anything that isnt true. when i say i believe in God, it means i believe in the ONE that is immaterial, existing outside of the material universe and time as we perceive it, that made all things visible and invisible. of course i cant PROVE that GOD exists anymore than the one who doesnt believe in him can prove he doesnt exist. i can only say: I BELIEVE. yesterday happened to my namesake day - i was baptized on Lazarus Saturday. we are on the julian calendar so today is not (what western Christians) call Easter for us.... that will be NEXT Sunday. Nevertheless, CHRIST IS RISEN!
