I seem to be far from the most miserable of people, including swarms of religious people, and do not just eat, drink and be merry because my time is brief. I have very long horizons, extending far beyond my own consciousness and beyond that of humans. Wouldn't you think "Heck, this is all the time I have, I'd better make it count. If I had all of eternity to mess around, there would be no hurry to get on and do good works." Wasting the little time merely eating, drinking and being merry would be somewhat pointless. If you take time to contribute to creating Utopia, future generations can also enjoy their temporal existence while enjoying the pursuit of the divine. It seems Paul had it back to front. If Christians and other religious people were able to take a broader point of view than their own existence, they would see that there is more to life than the continuation of their own consciousness through silly ideas of rebirth or being Raptured into eternal life. In fact, I find I'm happier than the average tortured superstitious person who struggles to maintain their belief in supernatural things. I only have to cope with what's real. They have to cope with not just what's real, but all the imaginary things too. Okay, Easter is over. Back to our regular programme - the pursuit of the money changers, gold and The Anglos. Mqurice

We have hope for true justice in the world.Many studies have shown that atheists are the most unhappy of people (MQ could be an exception).As surgeon general Koop said "their are no atheists at the bed of a dying child"I work at the beds of dying people.He has risen indeed!

Paul was part of the problem for if good cheer was valued there would be less problems. If everyone woke up Easter Monday satisfied society as we know it would pass away. No one would need a new car or any car. Women would have no need for augmentations of any sort or make-up and hair products. People would no longer turn on the news to find out what the unsettling reality was for the last few minutes as they would no longer care. Politicians that were screaming and shouting about some new problem would be laughed at. If everyone woke up Monday morning and was completely satisfied with their lot the courts, police, lawyers, prison guards and prison builders would all be out of a job. So you can see there is nothing in satisfaction that is positive for a materialist society. What we need is an "I don't buy into it" campaign - this is much more important than any tea party. Peace of mind, euphoria, ecstasy is exactly what society is dead against. The promise of eternal salvation however true or false is held out as bait against it. Those that don't conform or pay lip service are punished here on earth and condemned to everlasting flames by the representing clerics.
