Well.... even more to it than that.. With the recent ruling by the SCOTUS that corporations are "people too" (corporate personhood), the balance of political power has dramatically shifted towards non-living entities with regard to representation in our government.

This was a travesty of justice that, I believe, our founding fathers never envisioned, nor would approve.

Corporations are not human beings. They are legal vehicles created BY people in order to conduct commerce, not to establish an artificial living entity granted the same rights as individuals.

For one, corporations never die, unless dissolved by their shareholders and un-incorporated. Therefore, to dissolve a corporation, in legal moral equivalency, is to "murder" that legal entity. Murder is illegal, the last time I checked (but I may be wrong.. ;0)

So now corporations, which cannot legally vote (but shouldn't they be permitted to do so?) can now spend unlimited quantities of money on political advertising (reversing McCain-Feingold).

Therefore, since money is the lifeblood of politics, it's only natural that Obama and other politicians are going to court corporations for financial support.

After all, the rest of the American electorate barely has enough money to put food on the table..
