excellent post-
however- selling your holdings- say you own 100 % of the float- to then convert allows for a change of controlling interest- regardless of who you sold to! very very poor- puts extreme selling pressure on stock- leaves joe 6 pack with a feeling of bewilderment and shakes out a lot of small fries- who never return-
increasing the float makes it more liquid for shorts to come in, because short don't like small floats{ i am a short seller-}
however like convertible debentures- warrants- usually are doled out in a manner that doesn't change % interests in co-
i just see very little logic in selling into a buyer's market and then rushing to convert for even a small gain-
and as far as i know it is real difficult to short a stock that has few upticks.
