Agree. Which is why Microsoft famously propped up Apple with major bucks, in Apple's most dire hour of need, instead of buying it as a whole, dirt cheap, back then.

Apple is a vertically integrated business but not a monopolist, unless you count music where if not a monopolist close. Their business model is not geared to ever becoming a monopoly but rather the high end business within the sector. Google and Microsoft are monopolists, that's their business model. That's one reason I prefer Apple and one reason, along with privacy, that I don't like Google.

NOK at $16 billion valuation...If Motorola was worth $12 billion, how much NOK is worth? Their patent portfolio is much bigger and more valuable than Motorola's. Hell, even Apple is licensing their patents and pays them billions for them.
