Your second move was wise.

>>I've got no real nerve to hold a short on AAPL (on that news alone).<<

Well, that's wise.

Here's a suggestion. You might try making money on the long side with AAPL. In case you haven't noticed, the stock has risen just a bit since you called a top at 363.13 last February.

Zax, there is a really good song based upon a very wise part of the bible (whether you're religious or not) that applies.

There is a time to short Apple to be sure, and a time to go long.

If you want to short Apple due to personal vendetta, that is the wrong reason because it will be you that will get hurt (revenge is not a good thing, as Martha Stewart might say)

this version is better:

Weren't you the one that criticized Apple for releasing "beta" Siri? Microsoft would never do that...blah blah blah.

Nokia discounts Lumia 900 to free while working on data fix

Nice business model though, give a buggy pos away for nothing and hope you make money on it. That's a real good way to compete with Apple. Not. Jeezuz, no wonder Nok is falling off a cliff. If Balmer keeps up the good work, your beloved Softie is next.
