Another issue with teh DOJ suit is if they can win with the price fixing model for the book dealers what will stop them from expanding the suit to go after the App store which uses a similar model?

There is no price-fixing on the App store. Sure Apple takes its 30% but Apple developers can charge whatever they want or give it away for that matter. Nothing wrong at all with Apple making a profit.

Don't think so. App developers haven't colluded on price amongst themselves or with Apple and Apple hasn't insisted that it be able to sell apps at the lowest price. Amazon has demanded that of app developers I believe though. Amazon's terms for developers were truly Machiavellean, borderline extortionist, but they have had to soften them a little because of developer discontent. Bezos is a ruthless prick.

I don't see how, because there's no collusion between app developers on pricing. They set their own prices, and compete with each other.

Not going to happen as there is only one place in the entire Universe where someone with an iOS device is going to be able to purchase their apps. No opportunity for anyone to create loss-leaders in this space to compete with Apple.
