>>does anybody actually buy their e-books from Apple

I've been buying a few via the Kobo (a bookstore subsidiary).

Price isn't really my concern (it's all cheaper than hardcopy) – choice and ease of use is.

Apple hasn't invested enough in the eBook experience. It feels tacked on.

I think the DOJ/Book issue is a peanut.

Media is falling to record low prices. We are awash in media. It takes no money at all to duplicate a digital file.

I bought "Defending Jacob" there.
It's also good.

Never bought a virtual book, though I am an avid book collector, most particularly interested in photographic reportage, since photography was invented, to here. Hundreds of classics nicely shelved at this point, soon to be a thousand.

Nothing much gives me greater pleasure than taking a few steps across the room to pick one up and leaf through it, in good window light. Priceless!
