Great humanists have woven it into a gentle pillow of superstition and ignorance. We have sheathed their swords. You seem to have missed the point. I mentioned "Great Humanists" as being responsible for the taming of the Christian mythos of misogyny, slavery, and NO freedom of religion (forced conversion or death)--you know...that sort of thing. The comparison was to another ideology that also has no respect for fundamental rights and freedoms--and which rules by "authority" of an otherworldly force beyond the touch of reason. Humanism does not meet these comparisons. It does not claim Absolute Truth--so it cannot dictate from Absolute Authority. It does not have an ideological basis or any basis other than what attaches to the justice and happiness of humanity. Secular government in a humanist paradigm can never be a dictatorship. Unlike Christianity...humanist people are good by default --not evil. And this is what we have in North America. Humanist society and Government and rights and freedoms set down by great thinkers! Christian superstition has been subdued so that it is private (with some public mumbling)--but restricted from harming our rights and freedoms (which it would DEARLY love to take away!!). I like it! Hate rule by bforce!
