"George Zimmerman is a victim of hypocrisy by the Latino community By GabsterWorld | Posted March 31, 2012 Initially, the media reported George Zimmerman to be a white man and sold this case as racial profiling. In an attempt to clean up their own misrepresentation of the facts, Zimmerman was then labeled as a "white Hispanic" man. And although his father is a white man, his mother is Peruvian of Amerindian-African descent. George Zimmerman would hardly be considered a white Hispanic man given his multiracial background. Latino organization, La Raza, is calling for an investigation into the incident. However, "La Raza has rallied for Martin with the civil rights community as well..." wrote the Daily Caller. In recent years, Latino organizations have allied themselves with many in the Black community, searching for their assistance with minority issues facing Hispanics today, including illegal immigration, and seeking strength in numbers. However, the Latino community continues to ignore Zimmerman and even disregards his Hispanic background. " 'The Latino community joins the African-American community and other communities in condemning George Zimmerman as what he is – a murderer and a racist,' Roberto Lovato, co-founder of the online Latino advocacy organization Presente.org, told The Daily Caller." Lovato went as far as dismissing Zimmerman as a Latino man, saying that his background was questionable. On the other hand, the Latino community was only too happy to embrace actress, Jessica Alba's Hispanic heritage and welcomed her into their realm a few years ago. Jessica Alba, who is half white and half Hispanic, once said she did not consider herself Hispanic because she did not speak Spanish. But because she is a Hollywood actress, she was openly embraced by the Latino community regardless. Yet, George Zimmerman, who does consider himself Hispanic, who does speak Spanish, has been shunned and ignored by these so-called Latino community activists. Can we say hypocrisy? "ireport.cnn.com
