I guess I should have said "...in order for me to CONSIDER going long.' I may continue to play Dell options in the short term, but have no intentions to take any more long term positions until I'm confident in the market again. That could be in a few days, but probably months.

One must consider not only the quality of the company when going long, but also the price one is buying it at. If dell was trading at 250 right now with the same fundamentals, would you buy in? Of course not, because it would be overvalued (I think we can agree on that). It's not enougy for a company to be good, efficient, and growing for me to invest for the long term. It must also be a good value. Dell will see some dips in the short/medium term. Why lose money? I could go short other securities or buy bonds.
