It was good quality petrol. What do you mean cheap natural gas does not power cars? Methane is an excellent starting point for chemistry. including transport fuels. It's a fine fuel as it is, though not ideal due to it being a gas, meaning heavy storage tanks and frequent refueling. But in many operations, the money saved makes it attractive.
