I now buy off brand ink cartridges for my Brother printer at eBay for really cheap and they work great.

Same applies to toner cartridges for laser printers (mine is Canon MF4350) - "compatibles" are 1/6 the price of the OEM.

I've changed my mind about trying to refill my color cartridges. Until I bot this new computer a couple months ago, I used a very old black only Canon BJ in addition to the color printer. I filled and refilled that black cartridge dozens of times, getting over a year of use from a single cartridge before it finally died. This new computer doesn't even have a port to connect that old BJ, so I can't use it anymore.

Advice I got here has lead me to buy off brand color cartridges from eBay in the future. Affordable, and, I hope, reliable. My current color printer is a Canon PIXMA from WalMart for less than $50. But, new cartridges for it cost almost the same as a new printer. Ridiculous!
