There is a green initiative organization (tax exempt) that built and opened a new building in my town that is self contained (with backup from conventional services) last year. Besides growing food, they offer classes on everything from growing and cooking organic food to composting to a series on Solar Power how to. The building sits on 70 acres of prime farm land and the whole thing is situated within the city where I live (population 8500.) Every flyer they send out, every article that is in the local paper stresses "sustainability." There was an article about their solar power classes in last week's paper that used the word no less than 20 times in a 1/2 page space. Their cooking classes start at $90.00 and this six part solar power class costs $195.00. Quite the racket they've got going there.
