Append "to sell our ads" to the end of that.

Translation: it's harder for us to make money off of people's private information when that private information is behind a wall.

Brin voiced concerns that this closed approach prevents companies like Google from accessing the information stored on the companies’ networks, possibly revealing one of the main causes for his position. ”There’s a lot to be lost,” Brin said. “For example, all the information in apps, that data is not crawlable by web crawlers. You can’t search it.”

Don't you just want to say "Brin get your F'ing crawling nose out of my private business!".

Oh, gimme a break! Of course Sergey would like for everything to be WIDE OPEN for Google to suck up for free and monetize. After all, Google's importance diminishes with every byte that is hidden from its prying eyes. And btw, if there's any free code out there, we'll take that too. Just ask Oracle. Can we say "self-interest"? <LOL!!>
