I would not be concerned about performance, its the safety issue.

THE Shanghai Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision yesterday shut down an operation selling fake cellphone batteries.

The business, based in Putuo District, had an online store named "Honest Communication" on Taobao.com, China's leading e-commerce platform, and enjoyed a good reputation. But officials found most of its batteries - bearing the brands Samsung, Sony Ericsson and Motorola - were counterfeits.

Honest Communication sold more than 2,500 batteries in the past month.

The bureau warned that some fake cellphone batteries could explode.

I use to have an import business selling auto parts, and tools, back in the 80's, imported from Taiwan, they were way cheaper, but the quality was not there and most they failed before they should have.
