GZ...I have already exlained this quite clearly.........in any event, there are certain words....call them catch phrases if you will .........that are derogatory and associated with certain ethnic or racial groups.

For instance, no one would dispute that it is offensive to label all Irish drunks or that because someone was Irish they were a drunk without concrete evidence of same....or to refer Italians as "greasy guineas" or mafiosi without proof of same....These kinds of statements ARE offensive to those of Irish and Italian heritage. They harken back to the days of "no Irish need apply"....etc.

Blacks have historically been referred to in derogatory terms by association with jungle creatures such as gorillas, monkeys, etc.....and such statements are racist and derogatory when applied to blacks.
as a means to divide them from whites and consider them less than human in the past history of this country...

President Bush was referred to as a chimp to denigrate his looks and intelligence. But chimpanzees are not associated with a history of discrimination against Yankees like Bush. The sorts of images evoked by John's posts ARE CLEARLY associated with discrimination against blacks. That is the difference. It is pointless to deny the history. Let John make one of those statements derogatorily equating blacks to jungle animals verbally to any black person.....and watch the result.
