The Scopes trial was a stunt put up by the ACLU and a small town's establishment to promote their town.

Good post. The parallels of this barbarian stone-age type of action in Tennessee to the Scopes trial are so clear, and so very very relevant! The scopes trial was the State of Tennessee taking a dedicated teacher to court to make him into a criminal for violating their superstitious regulations against Science. He taught the Science of Evolution--the equivalent of Galileo teaching that the sun did NOT go around the earth! Galileo paid a heavy price for being a scientist, too! -g- Here we are 100 years later and Science is again being attacked in the same State backed by the same superstitious nits who attacked scopes and indeed....Galileo!! As the caretakers of Dame Ignorance, the Fundies continue to annoy--but never to surprise! What Nimrods!
