"Did you note your Republicans blocked the bill to require people who make millions pay the same rate as you and me?"

The (R) tax haters come back with three counters to that:

1. Those are JOB CREATORS!

So, since they've been getting the lions share of the pie since Bush cut their taxes, WHERE are the friggin' jobs?

2. It won't eliminate the deficit,

No, it won't even DENT it much. But it would make the millions of ordinary workers feel like they were getting a fair shake when we eventually have to raise their taxes and cut their benefits to do so.

3. They already pay most of the tax burden.

Sure they do, but in the past, they've progressively carried EVEN MORE of the tax burden, especially when America NEEDED them to. After WWII, the tax rate on the highest earners was 91% ( To which they say, "Yeah, but no one actually PAID that!" ) Which is true, most paid like 60%, and felt like they'd WON!

yes, I saw that and was appalled. The GOP refuses to raise taxes or to institute meaningful tax reforms to make it fair. Then the Dems are just as bad in other ways. This is a bipartisan failure. There are no innocents here.
