The way people perceive of the state of the economy will decide the election. There is nothing unusual about that. The direction of the stock market during the summer - fall months will be a good indication.

The general attitude towards the Dollar seems to be almost uniformly bearish. Strength in the dollar could become an unexpected surprise.
