keith, cpq's low cost pc has the works for $800.
dell is not close to that price, with the modem, cd rom and those pc's have 1000 dollars of software on them.
I'm sure he hee-hawed on that one..
dell is saying the exact same thing now that cpq said in 1989-90...
Cpq was saying "we'll take the high ground, people are buying cpq's for their high end features, we don't need low cost pc, our marketing channel is perfect"..
yep, strike out cpq and put in dell and you have the exact same words... it turned into disaster..cpq had one of the worse years in history in 1991 and top management turnover and stk crashed from 75 to 22.125 and stayed down til 1993. cpq released the low cost pc in june of 1992 and they rocketed up.
