I would disagree as to the socialists. In the late 70s Mitterand came to power and eventually made substantial changes to make France more solvent and competative. He had to reverse many of his policies like FX. Today France has no alternative but to be more business friendly, competative and reduce Gov spending. It is easier for the socialists to do this politically. Arithmetic controls and with the Euro as their currency, France must change its ways. Many of my conserevative friends voted for Jerry Brown in Calif for the same reason. Rich
