You have no idea who is legal and what percentage they represent. Of course none of them put "illegal" on the census forms. The census is not accurate.

Arizona Republicans Pick Jesse Kelly for Congressional Race By IAN LOVETT Published: April 18, 2012

LOS ANGELES — Republican voters in Arizona chose Jesse Kelly on Tuesday to face off against Ron Barber in the special election to fill the Congressional seat vacated by Gabrielle Giffords.

A one-stop destination for the latest political news — from The Times and other top sources. Plus opinion, polls, campaign data and video.

  • Mr. Kelly, a Tucson businessman who nearly won a bid in 2010 to unseat Ms. Giffords, garnered nearly 36 percent of the vote to emerge from a field of four Republican candidates, according to unofficial election results.

Mr. Barber is a former aide to Ms. Giffords who was seriously wounded in a January 2011 shooting rampage that left six people dead and almost took her life. He was unopposed in the Democratic primary; other Democratic candidates had considered running for the seat, but stepped aside and supported Mr. Barber after Ms. Giffords endorsed him.

Ms. Giffords resigned in January to focus on her recovery from the gunshot wound to the head that she sustained last year. She was first elected to the seat in 2006, as a moderate Democrat in a swing district.

A June 12 contest will now offer Mr. Kelly another chance at the 8th Congressional District seat, which he lost to Ms. Giffords in 2010 by 4,000 votes. The winner of the special election will hold the seat until Ms. Giffords’s term expires at the end of the year.

The re-election campaign, however, will kick off all but immediately. Primary contests for a full term representing a new 2nd Congressional District will be held in August, before the general election in November.

While Mr. Barber has enjoyed overwhelming support from Democrats in this special election, even if he fends off Mr. Kelly, at least one other Democrat plans to oppose him in his bid for a full term.
