We programmer's were that stupid, we even taught newer programmers all these little tricks to save memory and reverse date order. We used to pat each other in the back and re-assure ourselves that the programs would be replaced long before Y2K ever came. Programs were supposed to have a 5 year life-cycle.

The history of the computer industry is characterized by very short term decisions, punctuated with a couple of insanely great revolutionary ideas. "Built to last," ha ha ha, I laugh at that statement. The industry has been built around the concept of planned obsolescence. That INC writer should be banned from penning articles on the Computer Industry. Never believe another thing he writes.
