A name or term is a slur if the person or persons being labeled consider it is a slur.

Actually its more like - "Its a slur if the people using it intend it as a slur", or arguably but reasonably that plus "its a slur if it was traditionally used as a slur and still is recognized as one".

Liberals seem to think "liberal" is a slur. Should I stop using it in an insensitive manner .... you know like you don't use goober?
