I am not certain MJ but I have always heard an incumbent president is the leader of his party. I think it was a smart move for Obama to limit exposure to her. She is nasty and never seems to have an independent thought. In any conversation she simply repeats the DNC talking points wether appropriate to the conversation or not. I don't usually see Obama do smart things. I believe this is one of them.

yes Obama picked her. Seems like the dem president picks the head of the party. I don't know who picks if there is no dem President
