That's a fair conclusion.. Especially since the Earth has been warming off and on for thousands (hundred's of thousands? Millions?) of years. Look at how Mueller rebuids Mann's chart using the data that was leaked from CRU. It shows a marked decline beginning in the late 1800's to recent years. And now we're seeing a bounce back upward in climate temperatures.. Doesn't that sound natural and logical? Push a volley ball under water far enough and eventually it's going to pop back up to the surface, right? And btw, Michael Mann was one of the founders of the RealClimate.orgen.wikipedia.org wattsupwiththat.com I'm old enough to remember the hoopla that was presented in the '70s over the coming Ice Age and how everyone in the climatic community had adopted that "zietgeist". The reality is this.. Assuming that CO2 is the terrible greenhouse poison that GW's advocates that it is, then it stands to reason that we should be seeing more dramatic expansion of flora (plants), both on land and in the oceans. We should be seeing this because CO2 is a major element that ALL plants need to thrive. Therefore, it stands to reason that if there is an abundance of CO2, the most logical solution to re-sequester it is to augment the growth of the primary flora responsible for CO2 absorption during photosynthesis, (ie; phytoplankton ). This means we provide the other essential elements necessary for the growth of oceanic phytoplankton (Iron and Silica preferred by Diatoms). HOWEVER, I personally believe that more is going on in the climatic equation. I believe a lot of it has to do with solar activity. We saw during the Maunder Minimum, when the sun was rather calm, that the earth experienced significant cooling. That was only a 300 hundred years ago. And now some people are predicting that we're possibly entering a similar sunspot minimum within the next 20 years. If that happens, Dr. Mueller's conclusions are likely going to be reversed very quickly. I just cannot perceive how, in the course of 20 years, we can suddenly believe we're masters at understanding how the planet's climate is influence by terrestrial and extra-terrestrial events. But I do believe that we can mitigate any extremes through augmentation of the planet's natural system of checks and balances. Hawk
