All... A no BS (didn't consult Jerry or any of his "analysts") observation of K6 improvements.... I had the opportunity to put about 45 K6 machines into service over the past 4 months (200s and 233s). The average operating temperature of those put into service during the past month has come down significantly. 233s now average about 34 degrees C as opposed to 55 degrees C four months ago. Although 55 degrees is within the norm, 34 degrees is much more reassuring for machines that must run 24 hours a day. I've read of rumors in the past few days that the K6 yield problems have been solved. I know of nothing factual to support this, but I have seen first hand that the temperature problems have been fixed. The K6 CPU is my first choice for workstations and the dual Pentium Pro (socket 8) for servers. We've found that K6 machines custome built with premium sub-systems offer equal or better workstation performance than the Intel counter-part and at a lower cost.
