<<Got to wonder what happened to the American male self image that has produced this change. Is the US on the road to a matriarchal society?>>

I think it is an instinctual irony more than anything. Female simians have always been subjugated by alpha males and have different roles within the troop. They raised the children, and were the gatherers. This required them to be very creative and organized to survive. It also meant better verbal skills to raise the children.

While the males wandered off to hunt, and talking little, females had to talk all the time to raise the babies and organize the work for the tribe and gather. Look at any culture and you will see the women congregating and visiting. Women also had to do most of the hard work. In Africa a male may have several wives and each wife has to take care of herself while the men tend the cattle. Same in traditional New Guniea.

Now look how these skills would work in the modern technological world. I would bet women text more than men. So take banking or real estate. The success in those areas requires several things: lots of communication with everyone, organization, organized offices and web sites and computer skills.

The modern work force requires computer and programming skills. My scientist daughter just complete a post graduate class in programming (at night after work) becasue she felt that would help her more than anything. She is preparing to work on her PHD, but felt the programming class was necessary in the interim.

She is a little hippie chick, yet for the last few years she has run companies as the administrative officer. She has great computer skills and understands the managerial programs needed to run a company. My other daughter, the lawyer, has the same skills and both kids always take care of business, never procrastinating anything.

But non college males are more often engaged in the trades which require no computer skills. Then come home and drink beer, play video games and watch sports-lol.

The world will be better off if the women start running things. Women like love and sex more than men, so we needn't worry about that-lol. Most women don't really care if the guy is dumb. They do like him to be an alpha male though!

Check out the turnout in the French elections.......that compares to the US turnout of 57% the last election......which was a 3 decade high:

Early indications suggested that about 80% of the electorate turned out.
