Thanks for assisting in making my point about the importance of phytoplankton populations in the AGW argument.

The only qualification I would have is whether acidification is increasing due to DECREASED CO2 uptake by TRACE nutrient starved phytoplankton....

... or whether GW is driving the acidification that is causing reduced Diatomic phytoplankton growth, since acidity will limit the growth of skeletal structures that eventually cause that dead phytoplankton to sink to the ocean depths with it's Carbon load.

Chicken or egg argument..

My personal opinion is that fertilization of high nutrient/low chlorophyll area with trace iron and silica, and then monitored for pH levels over a 3-5 year period of time, would be useful series of experiments to run.

If the pH levels decline, then I would assert that would support the argument for Iron deficiency causing reduced phytoplankton levels.

If the pH levels remain the same, it would support the view that acidification is being caused by something else.
