Mind if I take a stab at the question, John?

How 'bout poor salesmanship.
Or maybe the CEO lied too many times to the computer companies that were to use the software , like he has done to us investors and to analysts.

The dip in price today didn't make me feel all that well. I wonder if it was due to the general market decline or maybe due to the fact that someone knows tomorrow's news is going to be quite disappointing.

Re: Reasons for reluctance

The majors may play around with various stuff but few will make a major commitment to any technology until it receive's MSFT's imprimatur. Both MSFT and INTC are making a major commitment to improving manageability and reducing cost of ownership. If SystemWizard is blessed as a part of the answer, then SYSF is poised for CTXS-like liftoff sometime next year. Otherwise they will wither and die.

It's just about that black and white. But the final answer will only be known as part of Windows98 and NT 5.0. Nothing will be done with the current install base. Manageability will be one of the key features driving the NT 5.0 launch.
