Whatever. The rules don't specifically prohibit handling the situation in a way that would be fair to all participants, so I don't see the harm in doing that.

i have a great idea. why not star your own thread where you run a concurrent stock picking contest where you can be a stickler for rules. that way people can choose if they want to play in a contest where small mistakes aren't treated as cardinal sins or they can play on a thread where no deviations from the rules are tolerated.
