re: Newmont Mining (NEM)

For what it's worth, Charles Allmon from Growth Stock Outlook (recently retired 12/2011) always liked both Newmont Mining and Barrick Gold (ABX).

I never subscribed to GSO, but I liked to read about Allmon whenever Peter Brimelow at Marketwatch wrote a column about him. Allmon is a very interesting fellow (former National Geographic photographer that became a newsletter writer and mutual fund manager) and VERY risk averse (75% cash, on average, since 1987).

Allmon's portfolio when he retired in December consisted of:

NEM 10%
MO 6%
PM 6%
BMY 3%
cash 75%

Regards,

Paul Elgin

So my point is - even if they are leveraged bet on gold - everyone is saying that they haven't seen the kind of rally that was expected.

i have not followed these guys so i thought i did ask you. those kind of margins are nuts, even if the guys are levered so wanted to get some feedback.
