The answer is, of course, no -- there's no good reason to oppose voter ID. The real motivation can only be to rig elections. As for the argument that voter ID discriminates against minorities - that itself discriminatory - it's downright racist. It's saying that black Americans and Hispanics are too dumb and incompetent to handle getting ID like everyone else in America. Think about it for a moment:You need ID to get welfare. You need ID to get unemployment. You need ID to get food stamps. You need ID to qualify for government assisted housing. You need ID for Medicare You need ID for Social Security You need ID to cash a check (including a welfare check) As pointed out at Stand Up For America , all of these programs designed to help those same poor potential voters require that you have a government issued ID in order to use them ... and the reason is, of course, to eliminate fraud. This makes perfect sense to any reasonable person, yet the lefty Democrats claim that those same people using ID to access these programs don't have ID in order to vote. This, despite the fact that you don't hear the left clamoring about that requiring an ID to qualify for welfare is an undue burden on the poor who require it. After all, if they want the assistance, they will get the ID. And if they want to vote, they will get the ID (or use the one that they are using for government programs). In other words ... it's plain and simple - rigging an election is the one and only logical reason for being against voter ID. However, as Peter Ferrara makes perfectly clear in his piece at American Thinker today titled Stealing Our Elections , it's not just Barack Obama and Eric Holder that oppose voter ID. In fact, it's the whole Democrat party:... And the transparent reason they oppose Voter ID, and favor loose election laws like Motor Voter, election day registration, mail in registration, online voting, and extended voting over days and even weeks before Election Day is that vote fraud is a central Democrat strategy for "winning" elections. But as Ferrara also points out, now there's something you can do to protect your vote :[...] The American Civil Rights Union (ACRU) is a legal foundation started by the late Robert B. Carleson, the former chief welfare advisor to Ronald Reagan, both when he was Governor of California and President of the United States. Carleson, closely backed by Reagan, spawned a revolution in welfare policy, starting with the famous California welfare reforms originating in 1971, spreading across the country throughout the 1970s, going national with Reagan's reforms as President in 1981, and then culminating in the outrageously successful, fundamental, block grant reforms of the old, New Deal, Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC) program in 1996. Today the ACRU serves as a counterpoint to the ACLU, with former Reagan Attorney General Ed Meese and other Reagan Administration alumni or associates serving in the organization, including myself, working as General Counsel since the organization's founding in 1998. The Chairman and President since 2006 is Susan A. Carleson, Robert Carleson's widow. A new project of the ACRU is "Protect Your Vote!" focused on countering vote fraud. It serves at the ACRU website as a one-stop shop covering voting requirements in every state, current state efforts to strengthen ballot security, and the push-back from the left. Take the time to read the whole thing . In the meanwhile, Eric Holder is running a vote fraud conspiracy right out of the AG's office, and this is being done with ACORN Obama's approval (along with the support of the entire Democrat Party ).
