Have to add one more thing. The process of unlocking was completely painless. I never had to go to the web, or any of that. Simply plugged the iPhone in, cranked up iTunes, synched, restored, synched again from backup and done.

The prompts along the way are classic Apple: simple, pleasing, helpful. All fields for re-registering were filled in.

Superb user experience, at my end.
