It is highly abused. I know someone who was a union worker in factory for 25 years, was 10 years until retirement, and suddenly, started having problems with his legs. He would walk and stumble and carry on. He said, "I've had it. I'm going to give it up and go on disability." Which he did, although he had to doctor shop to get it.

A month later the fishing trips started. He's out on the lake all day and half the night all year long. Winter, Summer, whenever. I've not seen him hobbling around since he started getting those checks. We went on vacation with this couple just after he got on it, and we must have walked 10 miles one day.

This is just all over the place. I once knew an eye surgeon who wasn't on SS disability, but was drawing a 5K/monthly disability insurance check. All the while doing eye surgeries on a regular basis. People feel entitled. Makes me feel ripped off for having to pay disability premiums lol.
