from what i understand the company ties two 56 k together and with software allows you to retrieve both messages at the same time. the software matches the messages together and you recieve at 112k.

I saw and tested the product you're referring to.

Here is the poop:
The product is called the AlphaCom InSat Wireless Modem.
It is a digital celular modem distributed by Wireless Enterprises Group.
The cost is $399 and 20/month for unlimited internet access.
The speed is 19.2k raw (compared to 9.6k raw with conventional modems.
With typical 4+ to 1 compression with average internet traffic you
generally achieve 80k, plain ascii text 120k, intense graphics 40k.

It was BY FAR the best new product at Comdex. Being somewhat of a techy
i talk to the owners and designers for about a 1/2 hour. It was very
impressive. The dimensions were about 3"x5"x1" with a 6" antena.

Features and Benefits:
- The high speed are achieved using CDPD technology.
- There are no local calling charges for direct internet connectivity.
- Acts like a regular celular phone when dialing direct modems and voice
connections (thru software loaded on your PC)
- Power can be supplied via a special parallel port adapter for laptops
(It does use 3 WATTS of power though so it does limit battery life and
also has problems when doing simultaneous printing.)
- ISP services are through AlphaCom.
- 65% coverage in the continental USA and 85-90% coverage in Canada.

AND THE BEST THING:
The distributor goes IPO in January........
