They were sitting around on the 1980 election night trying to justify the polls being off so much. They couldn't tell the truth, which was the polls refused to believe the truth, and slated them to Carter. What an unhappy bunch those CBS talking heads were! Reagan, who they detested, had won.

I think the kind of rout Carter received is slim for Obama since minorities comprise a greater percentage of the population and more people today are on government subsistence than was the case in 1980.
