Given the percentage of large, medium and small enterprises that have already adopted the iPad (including education), I think Office is an insufficient marketing tool for a Windows tablet.

Unless we think Office goes away, something has to give. Tablets can't replace notebook PCs without the essential tools needed for business. If they are a pure consumption device, so be it. Their appeal will always be limited. A mostly "plaything".

I'm thinking they're more than that. We just need some really clever people to design the business UI. Might be MS for iOS, might be Apple, might be MS for W8.

But eventually somebody is going to strike gold by making the software do what people need to do, not just what they want to do.

I agree. Though people who haven't yet bought into the iPad ecosystem, who love Windows and/or hate Apple, may find it compelling.
