The reason this story got no traction outside the right wing blogs is twofold.

(1) You claim everything that is charged against a Republican doner or non-union factory is partisan politics, while when your guy was in power you overlooked raw partisanship under Alberto Gonzales that made John Ashcroft look like Janet Reno. Citizens are tired of the "Johnny did it too, Mommy" whining defense of the noise machine.

(2) Illegal logging is serious and real. The 110+ year old Lacey Act was amended during the last days of the Bush Administration, which includes the law Gibson is accused of violating. It deals with illegal trafficking in wildlife, fish and plants; requiring certain plants and plant products be accompanied by an import declaration to ensure they were taken legally from the exporting country.

CO would defend obama if he was caught impaling little children on the White House lawn. Probably would say it's good for the lumber industry.

He's from the san fran area, so he's a lost cause, probably voted for Pelosi and those 2 bimbo senators

You should look at Paul Reed Smith as well.. I used to own one.. It also had a Rosewood Fretboard..

Beautiful Guitars and serious competition for Gibson on quality and sound.. But Paul Reed Smith lives in Maryland, and I'd wager he donates democratic.. (just a hunch).

And as much as I hate agreeing with Cautious Optimist, I also like the ES-335-355 series of semi hollow bodies by Gibson..

The whole crux of the Lacey Act is that we're applying Indian laws to US importers. India forbids of export of wood to another country unless it has been "finished" by Indian craftsman.

That's like saying India could not use US wheat unless the bread is baked by Americans..
