I agree with that. The Best Intentions- and all that.

I'm not sure it was actually a rookie mistake. I think, perhaps, they looked historically- the British passed their national health bill at a time of great economic pain (and societal pain)- maybe the administration thought America had some sort of collective spirit left. But we don't. This is a Balkanized society. The best thing that could happen, imo, would be for the county to peacefully break apart. Does anyone hear really want to be in the same country as Texas? (with apologies to those of you stuck there) I mean really. Let them have their drought stricken polluted economic "miracle"- and the left coast can go its own way. I would be so happy if that happened. IMO this country is just too big to govern. But of course, we are stuck with what we have, at least for the time being. A bunch of people who hate each other, forced to "work" together- and it all ends up being one giant game of tug of war, with a slime pit on one side, and a tar pit on the other.
