a club to wield against the Jews, all the more effective because he can be called "the honest Jew", "the enlightened Jew". ...the unspoken implication being that others are dishonest and unenlightened. It always puzzled me that people who publicize such comments never forget to emphasize that the author is Jewish -- as if this fact would add credibility and weight to the comments. I don't see why it should make any difference. But those who promote anti-Jewish and anti-Israeli views often seem to think that it does.
