I could imagine a hypothetical case, sure. Consider a high income professional - doctor, dentist, whatever. Say, as the end of the year approaches, he may weigh the value of another $30K of income - of which he'll get to keep half - against the value of more leisure .... say heading to the Caribbean or FL for a long year end vacation.

You've already admitted some people are affected by marginal rates, remember.
