That's exactly how people think. Once up against a higher bracket, I'd tell my clients that I'll be on vacation for the rest of the tax year. Why work for peanuts? We don't have your smiling slave mentality Shepard.

It's already been explained to you the max FIT rate plus a high state plus the medicare tax can get someone to nearly 50%.

The example I offered is of someone who's a high earner and can decline additional work ... a doctor, for example.
