When I posted about fiberoptic speed,I did not mean the speed at which light travels in fiberoptic cable but the speed of the manufacturing process.Light travels at the same speed in all media,as far as I know.
The important specification of communication grade fiber is the distance it can travel before the light has to be subjected to amplification.
