Arnie, The fact that the cellular phone or 'personal communicator' is being accepted much faster than anyone thought in the past could only be positive for Nextel. The main question I have for people out there is : Is nextel the lowest cost provider of wireless communication? I seemed to have read that their rates - apart from special promotions etc. are half that of regular cellular. PCS providers are also trying to lead the rate down but they have difficulties building up networks ( too many antennas needed due to short frequency ) and they are no way near nationwide. As I understand it, Nextel has a built in advantage because they accumulated their licenses cheaply, Can other people confirm these points?

Dear Arnie:
What's the point? Arnie are you saying that NXTL is already pursuing the industrial apps. going forward. As far as the NYNEX component of this co. is concerned they are still in the stoneage trying to wring (no pun intended) every last cent out of their tariffed lines. Their ISDN rates are crazy and their other initiatives into digital transmission are non-existent. I am not sure I see the relevance as presented by such trailing edge lights.
Regards,
John

P.S.If you think digital by wire is going to be key the last pure play left is ORCTF - it hasn't missed a beat through all this Asian Flu and they even make a profit (albeit small). Based on what AMTX fetched these guys are worth 50-60 and are presently at 20
