Why are they not terrified by what would be the consequences of NOT attacking bin Laden? The answer is obvious - they would keep it a secret that they ever had such an opportunity. The truth would leak out 10 years from now, in someone's memoirs. The very fact that Obama thought it was a good idea to get Bill Clinton to second him, when Clinton had muffed his chance to get bin Laden (not so secretly either) testifies to the truth of this.
