In 1976 I bought my first Porsche turbo. It was one of the first imported here in late 1975, a 930 Turbo Carrera. Anyway, I tried to get the NY license plate "TURBO" but it was already taken so I settled for "TURBOT." I still have that Porsche in original condition and many folks ask me the origin of the plate, which is still on the car. I tell them I was dining on Turbot Mousellaine, a great dish by the way, the evening that I picked up the car. Sort of a whipped airy mayonnaise sauce over the grilled fish.
